The Romania Pavilion had today, September 1, 2025, the honor of hosting a recital of the highest artistic standard performed by Romanian pianist Horia Mihail, one of the most acclaimed musicians of our country. The event also marked the Day of Romanian Diplomacy, celebrated every year on September 1.
For one hour, the audience was captivated by the virtuosity and sensitivity of his interpretations, through works by Mozart, Chopin, Brediceanu, and Debussy.
“We are delighted by the participation of pianist Horia Mihail at Expo 2025 Osaka. His presence has a special significance, considering that he also performed at the Romania Pavilion during the last world exhibition where Romania was present in Asia, in 2010, in Shanghai. His return in such an international context underlines the continuity and cultural value that Romania brings to the stage of world expositions,” said Ferdinand Nagy, Commissioner General of the Romania Pavilion.
Horia Mihail, soloist of the Radio Orchestras and the Brașov Philharmonic, has a prestigious international career, complemented by the academic and artistic experience gained at Boston University. Maestro Horia Mihail, together with Alexandru Tomescu and Răzvan Suma, has given national and international tours and produced remarkable discographic recordings as part of the Romanian Piano Trio. As a founding member of the Romanian Piano Trio, Horia Mihail has represented Romania on prestigious international stages, including at Expo 2010 Shanghai, performing at the Romania Pavilion in the framework of an emblematic cultural project.
A complex and innovative artist, Horia Mihail is also the initiator of successful national projects such as The Traveling Piano, The Duel of Violins, The Magic Flute, and Enescu’s Violin in Villages. His reputation goes beyond the country’s borders, the pianist being applauded on four continents and on renowned stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington.
The presence of the renowned pianist Horia Mihail was made possible with the support of the Union of Performing Musicians of Romania Association.
