The Commissioner General of the Romania Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Ferdinand Nagy, took part on Sunday, September 7, 2025, as a special guest of Aichi Prefecture, in the ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the 2005 World Expo held in Nagoya.
The event brought together several commissioners general of the countries that participated in the 2005 edition, in a festive setting that revived the spirit and legacy of Expo Aichi.
On the sidelines of the event, Ferdinand Nagy – invited both as Commissioner General of the Romania Pavilion at the Nagoya Expo and as former President of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) – held meetings with the Governor of Aichi Prefecture, Hideaki Omura, and with the BIE Secretary General, Dimitri Kerkentzes.

The presence of the Romanian official at this event holds special significance, as Romania made an important contribution to the success of the Nagoya Expo, where it was represented with a national pavilion under the motto “Heritage for the Future.”
The Romania Pavilion played a key role in shaping the “Aichi spirit,” by promoting intercultural dialogue and European values in Japan.
It also offered Japanese investors a strong and positive exposure to Romania, successfully facilitating dialogue between companies from areas of shared interest for Romania and Japan.
At the same time, the program of bilateral contacts was particularly active, highlighted by the visit of the President of Romania and two visits by members of the Japanese Imperial Family to the Romania Pavilion.
Today, Japan is hosting a new World Expo in Osaka, where the Romania Pavilion is enjoying remarkable interest among Japanese visitors, reaffirming the cultural and friendship ties between the two countries.
